Peter, who conceived the idea 20 years ago, explained: "In essence, the dental post combines existing materials with an innovative application and will help dentists get better moulds for broken teeth which will give the patient a stronger crown or cap."
Machined Components Systems will be responsible for mass production. The dental posts will require machining from 2mm diameter material and once up and running should be manufactured in the tens of thousands. The firm has invested heavily in the latest manufacturing technology, which is suited to this type of micro engineering.
Funded by Advantage West Midlands and the European Regional Development Fund, Innovation Networks has provided the three companies with significant financial and strategic support on developing prototypes and a range of marketing activities, including exhbiting at the recent Dental Showcase at the NEC.
