Bowmic's existing 'Tufftride' nitrocarburising processes will continue as core business activities.

Increased sealed quench capacity will be used primarily to maintain flexibility and responsiveness. The addition of a vacuum cell is intended to attract new business by further extending the range of services on offer. The company's remaining saltbath shop has now been decommissioned to facilitate accreditation to ISO14001 and also to improve the working environment.

Sealed quench batch furnaces are designed to heat treat large component volumes cleanly and economically in a gaseous medium.

Bowmic use closed-loop 'oxygen probe' atmosphere controls, which ensure precise management of carbon potential levels throughout the programmed cycle. Neutral hardening, carburising and carbonitriding are catered for on a 'round the clock' basis.

The range of 'Tufftride' trademark nitrocarburising processes are suitable for use on all ferrous materials to give greatly enhanced resistance to wear, corrosion and fatigue whilst reducing sliding friction.
