The Best Practice conference at Thorpe Park in Surrey last month - the biggest event of its type in the South - was organised by the MAS in the South East and London in conjunction with the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) with the support of the London Development Agency. The event attracted almost 600 manufacturers over two days, many attending a series of hands-on masterclasses on a range of topics including lean techniques, managing supply chains, health and safety legislation.
Speakers also included manufacturing guru Professor Sushantha Bhattacharyya, leading economist Douglas McWilliams, Nigel Freer, Chief Executive of Merrydown plc, David Drennan, a leading figure in workforce development and worker motivation and one of the UK's foremost sales experts, Bruce King.
The Manufacturing Networking event ran alongside Southern Manufacturing 2003 and the newly launched Southern Electronics exhibition. The show benefited greatly from the co-location of these three highly focuses events as visitor numbers reached a record breaking figure of 4,445.
The event will take place next year, February 18 - 19, at Thorpe Park, Surrey.
