The new machines are suitable for high precision machining of components up to 42mm diameter in a wide variety of materials and, like all other APT production equipment, are both equipped with FMB magazine bar feeders for unattended or 'lights-out' operation.

The new machines enhance APT's multi-axis turning capability and increase the company's investment in Miyano CNC equipment to seven fixed head lathes and two drill / tap machining centres. In addition, the company has a total of seven Star sliding head lathes - enabling it to offer one of the most comprehensive and cost-effective services for precision turned parts in the country.

"The new machines are ideally suited to our requirements, " comments APT's Managing Director, David Bailey. "They provide high speed metal removal rates combined with extreme accuracy and versatility.

They also complement the capabilities of our other production equipment, allowing us to produce in a single cycle, the kinds of parts that most other suppliers require secondary machine operations to complete."

The company supplies components used in industries as diverse as lock making, aerospace, dentistry, confectionery production, reprographics, home entertainment, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment manufacture.
