In 2002, the company began its policy of continual investment in the latest grinding and CNC sliding head technology. Its first CNC machine was a new ML20H Hanwha sliding head lathe from Macro Machine Tools.
Managing director Mark Welbourne was so delighted with this machine that he bought a further two: a SL20S and a SL12S, all equipped with IEMCA Bar feeds. Nearly all the output from these new machines is centreless ground to five micron tolerances.
Wharf also operates six Cincinnati centreless and two Myford cylindrical grinding machines.
