Dr John Collins, business development manager for the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) said: “EMO Hannover is a crucial opportunity for European manufacturers and is where exhibitors reach a high concentration of key target groups.

“A unique mirror of the world market, this event enables UK exhibitors to demonstrate their technological excellence and problem-solving capabilities side-by-side with their international competitors, making it possible for buyers to draw direct comparisons.”

Janet Tingle, head of advanced engineering at UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) said: “It is encouraging that a strong contingent of UK manufacturers will be attending EMO Hannover, showcasing their products in this global market place.

“Attracting groups of buyers from the key emerging markets, this exhibition is an opportunity to make new contacts, identify contract opportunities and forge new alliances and relationships.”

In its milestone 30th year, EMO Hannover targets a broad range of major industries including mechanical and plant engineering, automotive, aerospace, precision engineering, optics, shipbuilding, medical technology, tool and mould making, steel and metal alloy fabrication.

The event has a strong attraction for everyone with an interest in industrial manufacturing, ranging from machine tool makers or buyers, R&D specialists or next-generation engineers.

The entire scope of metalworking products and services are covered including: metal-cutting and forming machine tools as core equipment for manufacturing process, precision tools, surface treatment technology, software and control technology for the entire production process, automation systems and components, measuring, testing and quality management systems, machinery and systems for tool and mould making.

At the event attendees will be offered a rich programme of symposia and congresses, at which leading, global experts will address crucial technological issues.

Dr Collins said: “By virtue of its sheer scale, EMO Hannover is another effective barometer of the global advanced manufacturing sector. Important global investment in advanced manufacturing technologies is reflected in the level of interest in this event.

“Many exhibitors are reported to be booking larger stands in 2007. Compared with the same period in early 2005 – the last time the event was held – registrations are considerably up in terms of space booked.”

The success being enjoyed by EMO Hannover reflects a steady increase in the global machine tools market since mid-2003. High growth rates in Asian markets continue to be a major contributory factor, but Europe has also enjoyed a period of sustained improvement. In the first three quarters of 2006, European industry experienced a significant 13 per cent increase in order volume.

EMO Hannover is organised on behalf of the European Committee for Cooperation of the Machine Tool Industries (CECIMO) by the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW) in cooperation with Deutsche Messe, Hannover.
