Claro's managing director Martin Doxey said: "This is a very exciting time for the business - not only have we won the GTMA award, we have also achieved AS9100 certification and invested in new equipment to help us deliver even more cost effective products for customers to ensure they keep getting a first class service. We have also recently launched a new design service which will bring a new dimension to the service we give to our customers."

Looking to the future, Claro aims to maintain a focus on three key elements that drive its business forward - its systems, its people and its production technology and will continue to invest in all three.

Last year, for example, around 50 per cent of the workforce undertook further training and qualifications. On the technology front Claro has recently invested in two major new pieces of equipment.

The first, a Mori Seiki NL2000 SY twin spindle drive tool lathe, will give Claro another supply dimension by reducing lead times, offering increased accuracy and reducing costs. To offer even more cost effective production, the company has also just taken delivery of a Doosan VM510 VMC with 4th Axis and probing system.

Praise from customers backs up the company's successful approach. After dealing with Claro on a recent order David Leadley from Land Instruments International in Derbyshire said: "This has been a high profile project where any mistakes could have had serious implications on our development schedules. The quality of parts supplied has been absolutely first class and Claro's ability to meet promised delivery dates has been impressive."

Another customer, Clive Reay-Young, sums up Claro's approach by saying that "working with Claro is like having your own development and manufacturing facility."

Mr Doxey concluded: "Our aim is to provide a first class service every time and focusing on continual improvements within the business has been key to our ongoing success. We will continue to invest in the business and our customers will continue to reap the benefits."
