In second place was Terry Waller, who received a £10,000 cheque for his employer, Qualiturn Products, Hertford. Third place went to Andy McCafferty, who received a £5,000 cheque for his employer, Bonspiel Engineering, Dundee.

All three drivers were also individually awarded a trophy and personal voucher for £250.

Nineteen participants made it through the three heats to the final of the competition, which was judged independently by instructors at Donington. The results were very close indeed. A thoroughly enjoyable day was rounded off with a champagne buffet, and everyone went away with a certificate confirming that they had successfully completed the final.
