Traditionally the die cast and hydraulic sectors have kept the company extremely busy, by needing their efficient removal of flash or their guaranteed removal of potential loose parts, burrs and contaminants.

It seems that thermal deburring is being used as an insurance policy to avoid costly batches being rejected. Thermal deburring by it's very nature, using a gas, is guaranteed to surround every burr, and anything that is not removed by the thermal explosion will definitely not break off in service.

“The blast has often been the reason why companies have steered clear of thermal in the past. However those that have tried it have found that it has very little effect on the component itself or it's surfaces, save that of a slight melting of material at the root of the burr, which in most cases is not detrimental,” says Martin Bridges of Deburring Centre.
