Acquisition will create major new machining subcontractor

Responsive Engineering has acquired Exact Engineering and created a new company Exact Machining UK Ltd which will join forces with Responsive’s existing precision machining subsidiary Kingsway.

The combination of Exact and Kingsway will create a major sub contract machining business serving the oil and gas, power generation, defence and other key industries across the UK. The intention is to provide an improved offering to customers, including a very wide range of machine tools at one location and to bring together two highly skilled work forces and management teams.

Responsive Engineering is a group of sub contract engineering companies of which the principal subsidiaries are Weldex (precision welding); Streamline (laser profiling and water jet cutting); Pressex (pressing, forming and assembly); and Kingsway (precision machining).

All the Responsive businesses are located on adjacent sites at Team Valley, Gateshead. Following the acquisition the enlarged group will have annual sales of £14 million and 150 employees.

Following the acquisition, Responsive Engineering (Holdings) Ltd will have sales of £14 million and 150 employees at two sites on Kingsway, Team Valley, Gateshead, Tyne & Wear.
