“Having completed research and conversations with both English and Polish industry experts, I decided to employ a dedicated sales manager in Roman Najda. He understands our business and what we are trying to achieve and from a standing start has already secured £500k worth of new orders.”

He continued: “During an ‘AutoZone’ meeting with Accelerate, I was chatting to David Spears from Brandauer, a company that possessed a different skills set to our own, but shared similar ambitions to break into Eastern Europe.

“We explained about our operation out there and felt there was an opportunity whereby Roman could act on behalf of both parties. It’s a win-win situation in essence.”

Barton Cold-Form, which employs 105 people at its state-of-the-art facility in Droitwich, is now looking at a number of possible contracts that the new partnership could work on and has even recruited a Polish sales rep to be based at its UK plant.

David Spears, Managing Director at Brandauer, says he is excited about the new partnership, “Poland and the Czech Republic are two areas we have been looking at for a long time and it is brilliant news that two West Midlands’ businesses can come together to secure business back to the UK.”

He added, “Our specialism complements Barton’s expertise perfectly and means we can offer anything from fasteners and cold formed parts to electrical connectors, titanium implants for the medical sector, grab rings for the push-fit plumbing industry and mobile phone components.”

The partnership was a direct result of the two organisations involvement with ‘AutoZone’, an Accelerate backed initiative that looks to match existing capacity in the region with opportunities across Europe.

Pete West, Project Manager, concluded: “Companies in the West Midlands are fast realising that there are endless opportunities to supply car plants all over the world and this is something that we are trying to assist.

“We have about 50 members at the moment and these firms regularly network together, attend trade shows and make use of our database of opportunities.

“Barton and Brandauer have realised the synergies that exist between the two organisations and are now tapping into a multi-million pound opportunity.”

Managed by Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, Accelerate has assisted over 4000 companies with improving their operations, launching new products and implementing world class manufacturing.
