“This is an important year for Auto Expo, with its new Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles (OICA) accreditation, and for Caparo,” says Caparo chief executive officer Angad Paul. “The Caparo Group already has 22 sites and more than 2,000 direct employees in India, with a further nine sites planned. This year we are announcing plans to continue our rapid growth in the country, with particular emphasis on supporting India’s thriving automotive sector.”
“We have a deep and growing capability in vehicle technologies, supported by local design and manufacturing facilities,” says Paul. “Our world-class products and expertise can be used to help deliver sophisticated, globally competitive vehicles, or to create low-cost vehicles that most people can afford. With our new Caparo Vehicle Products business coordinating the entire resources of Caparo worldwide to benefit the automotive industry, we are perfectly positioned to support this exciting period of rapid development in the Indian auto industry.”
Global sales for Caparo Group reached US$1.5 billion in 2006 and are expected to reach US$ 2 billion by 2010. The company intends that a cornerstone of this success will be growth in India. “This is a great nation with a huge number of highly talented, highly educated people. We are tapping into this extraordinary resource to help deliver something very special for companies manufacturing here,” explains Paul.
“Caparo can help vehicle manufacturers add value is numerous ways, for example by helping them design lighter, more fuel-efficient, safer and cheaper-to-build products that will be more attractive to customers. It’s a strategy that has already made us the only company to supply every company manufacturing vehicles in India.”
