Sheet Metal

At the convenience of T5 travellers

Two Scottish companies working in partnership have contributed to meeting the essential needs of travellers who will be using Terminal 5 at Heathrow. Visitors to the toilets at Terminal 5, when it opens, will be able to admire the high quality interiors that were produced by Edinburgh based Grant Westfield supported by Glenrothes-based  sheet metal manufacturer Phoenix Precision

When Grant Westfield, which produces high specification products for building interiors, was asked by the main contractors at Terminal 5 to provide washbasin and hand-drier modules, it had to quickly find a partner in sheet metal manufacture which could match the demand of very high quality from the contractor and its own quality standards. It invited Phoenix Precision to work with them on the products. High and durable quality and speedy delivery were critical.

Nigel Patch, Managing Director of Grant Westfield said, “Having secured the wall panelling we were asked to step into the breech to provide the washbasins and hand-driers for T5 late on in the day, but with the right partner we believed that we could meet the very demanding needs of the main contractor. We needed a local Scots sheet metal company to work with us and Phoenix stepped up to the mark. Its quality and business objectives mirrored our own with a very “ can do” attitude. We are delighted to know that our work will be seen and used by millions of people. Terminal 5 is a state of the art building with which we are proud to be associated.”

Chic Brodie, Managing Director of Phoenix Precision, echoed these sentiments and added,

“ From the start of this project and knowing where it was going, you had to feel proud of the relationship we built with Grant Westfield. From sales and customer service, through engineering and production, and working with the leadership of Grant Westfield not once did our eye come off the main objectives of quality and delivery. The joint teams have done a great job.”
