Aerospace Challenge

A competition aiming to switch 16-18 year olds on to the opportunities available to them IF they first go to university and study for an aeronautical engineering degree, is to be launched on 28 January by The Association of Aerospace Universities (AAU).

The internet based engineering and design competition, based on a RAF requirement for an UAV demonstrator programme, is open to teams of five young people throughout the UK.

Prizes include a summer school course at Cranfield for the twenty best entries, and a trophy and £5000 for the School's Aerospace Team of the Year.

AAU is the principal organisation for co-ordinating support for the UK's aerospace industry by British Universities. Formed five years ago by a nucleus of aerospace university departments, the membership includes 21 universities and six industrial associate members. www.aau. ac. uk
