The Future is Bright for Re-designed Plating Plant
01 Jan 2002
Abbey Metal Finishing Co. Ltd (Amfin) re-designed it's new plating and anodising facility specifically to meet the exacting demands of the aerospace industry. It is now, arguably, the most impressive and up to date facility of its kind in the UK.
Following a devastating fire in June 2000, which destroyed much of Amfin's metal treatment facility, the Warwickshire based subcontractor (founded in 1947) took the opportunity to start from scratch and create an environmentally-driven and energy efficient facility, which embodied the latest plating, process control and effluent treatment technology.
"It was essential that our new plant operated to the highest standards of quality, with the tightest process and environmental control, as well as offer the durability for intensive production and fast turnaround", said Peter Bagguley, Amfin's managing director.
The new facilities not only demonstrate the company's long-term commitment to the metal finishing industry and its positive, forward thinking outlook, but also stands out as an ideal example of what finishing facilities should be in the 21st century.
The new plant has full aerospace approvals including RR, BAe, Lucas and Dowty, and can undertake a wide range of processes at one location.
Services include: cleaning, blasting treatments, chemical processing, electro-plating, painting/coatings, bonding, non-destructive testing, heat treatment and plasma spraying.
