NOx emission during furnace heating represents a big threat to the environment, both in acid rain and smog generation.
Kanthal (stand 570-G) have introduced a single ended recuperitive (SER) reducing gas system, with integrated burner and catalytic cleaners, which in operation has the potential to reduce nitrous oxide emissions by up to 75%, while at the same time increasing furnace thermal efficiency.
The system is made with Kanthal APM tubes - a FeCrAl material with outstanding corrosion resistance at high temperature. Rather than producing complete burners, the company are using existing commercially available burners and modifying them with the new technology.
