Rapid Prototyping for Micro-engineered Parts

On stand 118, Tecan will be launching a premium service for design engineers that offers rapid prototyping of high precision micro-engineered parts using electro-forming or chemical etching production techniques.
In contrast with mechanical pressing, these processes ensure burr-free and stress-free components.
A typical candidate for the service is a gold-plated encoder for an electronics company.
This was a 45 micron thick disc that featured a series of 35 micron diameters holes produced to a tolerance of ±5 micron. Under the premium service, delivery of first samples is guaranteed within five working days.
Using the service brings other benefits, the transition to full production is speeded up because tooling is already in place.
Also any design modifications can be incorporated in the CAD/tooling system at minimal cost. Files from most major CAD systems can be accepted.
