New Bed Mill Provides Back Up For US Contract
01 Dec 2003
Hampshire's Gravatom Engineering Systems Ltd has extended its machining capabilities with a new five-axis Anayak bed mill as part of a multi-milion pound contract with Varian Medical Systems Inc, a manufacturer of integrated cancer therapy systems, based in San Francisco.
Under the contract, Gravatom manufactures and supplies baseframes for simulators and linear accelerators, which are used in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
The new mill provides back up for Gravatom's existing Elga bed mill and strengthens the company's position as a leading force in the manufacture of major quality assemblies for state of the art medical equipment. It also extends the company's medium to large-scale machining capabilities in the subcontract manufacturing market.
Gravatom has also recently improved its component manufacturing capabilities at its Bishops Waltham site with the addition of four state of the art CNC machines.
