Blast Proof Window Parts Supplied Against All Odds
01 Jul 2003
Kingsway Precision, a sister company of Streamline Waterjet and Laser Cutting, Gateshead, has recently completed the manufacture of bomb blast proof window components for the Scottish Houses of Parliament.
The project involved the 'design for manufacture' and the complete supply of products, in timescales that were initially believed to be impossible.
When complete, the project was valued at over £300,000 and was delivered on time and to cost. The project involved all of the companies in the Responsive Engineering Group of which Streamline and Kingsway are members. The other group members (Pressex and Weldex) offered support services.
The Responsive Engineering Group, a leader in turnkey project management in the North East, has been involved in architectural projects for many years but this is the first time they have supplied precision machined components for this particular industry.
The multi-faceted nature of the Responsive Engineering Group affords each of the member companies the advantage of being able to handle large complex projects, knowing that whilst they might not have the necessary experience of a particular requirement or feature, they can call upon group members who have.
