Profiled Armour Plate Bid Could Create 300+ Jobs

Streamline Waterjet and Laser Cutting Ltd are poised to win a major defence contract for the supply of profiled armour plate kits.

Together with their sister company Weldex, and as part of the Responsive Engineering Group, Streamline and Weldex have beaten off strong competition in the UK to partner United Defense and Insys in bidding for the supply of armoured command vehicles to the MoD.

The team is offering a 'British Vehicle' solution, with 75% of the vehicle being built in the North East of England. As a result of this contract, in excess of 300 high quality jobs will be created, and will see Streamline and Weldex alone increasing their workforce by 90.

Weldex will play a major role in this contract and will use the plate kits produced by Streamline to fabricate the armoured shell of the vehicle. The bid is supported by the NDI Streamline has established a strong reputation for the supply of quality armoured plate kits to the Uk defence industry. The company produced the armoured turret components for the AS90 self-propelled Howitzer as well as the 120mm AMS Mortar, and the complete armoured system for the 'Terex'APC. Streamline's extensive experience embraces many contracts involving ballistic test pieces in exotic materials, applique armour systems as well as ballistic targets up to 150mm thick in high hard armour.

Weldex, working in tandem with Streamline, have developed a considerable amount of expertise and techniques in the cutting and fabrication of armoured plate for the defence industry.
