Casting For Bowman is One of Latest Projects

Carlton Die Castings, Paisley, continues to modernise and recent purchases include a 725 Buhler die casting machine and an 11 pallet, ultra high-speed Matsuura machining centre. One of the company's newest jobs includes four castings for the 'Bowman' project, which is the new radio communication system for NATO.

Carlton Die Castings specialise in small to medium quantities by both the gravity and high pressure process combined with an extensive CNC machining capacity. The company offers a design service to assist with product design at the initial stage. The company also offers vacuum impregnation and pressure testing.

One of Carlton's specialities is making prototypes machined from solid or from sand or silicon moulds from the designed alloy so that a component can be assembled and tested to represent the final application.

Markets cover all aspects of manufacturing from floodlights and electrical switchgear to forklift trucks, control valves, oil exploration and rail track safety. Castings for hazardous conditions manufactured to 'Zone 1' requirements are a specialism.

Exports to USA currently represent 20% of production.
