Engineers Most Likely to Stay Sober, Says Survey
01 Mar 2003
British Engineers rate themselves lowest when it comes to networking skills, according to a survey into the art of business lunching commissioned across five business sectors last month by PizzaExpress.
The study, which interviewed 500 employees at management level or above revealed that 22% of new business in engineering is won each year thanks to networking, compared to a national average of 32%.
Engineers are most likely to stay sober. A third of those questioned say they never drink on a business lunch, compared with the marketing sector, of whom a third say they always do.
Engineers also spend less - an average of £27.37 per head, compared with around £35 per head spent by media and sales professionals.
