Gear Grind Service's Latest Delivery Completes £150k + Investment

This month Gibbs Gears Precision Engineers, Tring, Hertfordshire took delivery of a 5-axis CNC lathe with live tooling for the production of shafts and bevel pinions. The lathe is part of a £150k+ investment in three machines, which also includes a matrix thread grinder for the 'grinding only' facility offered to other gear manufacturers.
The 'grinding only' service is offered on free-issued gear blanks and is consistently achieving high standards up to DIN 5. Full graphical readouts help to monitor the quality of finish.
The service is supported by Gear Profile Grind Services, Ryona Tools and DGS Ltd. The matrix thread grinder for precision grinding threads compliments Niles and Rieshauer gear grinding machines for spurs and helical precision ground gears. All types and sizes of gears are manufactured ranging from 0.5 mod to 10 mod.
Already ISO 9001:2000 accredited, Gibbs Gears hopes to have full accreditation to the TS157 aerospace standard by summer 2004.
