Automotive Supplier Goes With the Flow To Win New Contracts

Tenacity and investment in water jet cutting technology has helped Telford-based automotive supplier Acoustafoam Construction Products (ACP) recover from losing 18% of its turnover when AGCO's Coventry plant closed last year.

Backed by Accelerate, ACP developed new products and has since landed new contracts and posted impressive growth results.

The new water-jet machine gives the company the opportunity to cut more complex shapes, increase accuracy by 100% and reduce costs associated with conventional press shop measures.

Bob Hamilton, director said: "The machine is revolutionising the way we operate. By using CAD/CAM technology and the precision of the jet, we have been able to develop new plastic and rubber extrusion products to sell into the automotive, medical and general engineering markets."

He went on to add: "As a result, we have landed six new contracts and increased the amount of work we undertake for AGCO in Brazil? two major strides forward and key reasons behind the 6% growth recorded over the last four months."
