Product Development Leads to Large Contract

Shearline Engineering, Cambridgeshire, has secured a long-term contract to produce a quarter of a million components for Baxall, a leading British manufacturer of high quality CCTV equipment and video network solutions. With previous help from Shearline, Baxall has made considerable inroads into the security camera production market, successfully competing against companies based in the Far East.

Baxall chose Shearline for the manufacture of its components, because of the firm's vast experience in precision engineering for companies in the security markets.

Baxall is currently producing tens of thousands of cameras a month, which are being shipped all over the world.

Using a recently installed TW20, turning and milling are carried out on both spindles so that each product comes off the machine complete. This process allows Shearline to maintain accuracy, repeatability and speed, which ensures that Baxall receives a consistent product. The low PPM rate is evidence of the reliability and quality of the procedure.

Robert Halpin, business development manager at Shearline commented: "Our integrated engineering service encompasses research and development, CNC milling and turning, sheet metal laser cutting and fabrication, paint and vacuum brazing, all under one roof."

Shearline serves performance-led customers in markets as diverse as scientific and medical instrumentation, information and communications technology, security, automotive and inkjet printing.
