Jobbing Press Shop Has New Work Horses

Over the last few years GW Waite, Ulverston, the largest jobbing press shop in the Lake District, and a third tier supplier to the motor industry, has invested over £250,000 in three power presses to increase its production capacity and improve its product quality. The fully refurbished machines supplied by SMV Presses, Coventry, are two 125 tonne SMV FCP1250 fourcolumn mechanical presses, and one 80 tonne FCP800 complete with feeding equipment.

Managing director Russell Waite said the new presses have become the workhorses of his company's production: "We have seen the demand for our products increase significantly over the last few years and needed to replace our ageing Cframe presses. These presses now enable us to run complicated progressive tooling with full confidence. Many jobs requiring secondary operations have been retooled on progression dies; this has increased our productivity and helped us to remain competitive".
