New Boots and Bonnets Lead to Robotised Cell

Willenhall Manufacturing, West Midlands, has won a contract to supply the Unipart DCM with S type Jaguar bonnets, boots and wings following the introduction of an upgrade to the vehicle. To produce these parts Willenhall is in the process of commissioning a robotised cell, which includes robotic welders and pick and place units. The company has recently undergone a major reorganisation of its plant to create additional capacity with the aim of diversifying into other new market sectors.
Part of the Caparo plc group, Willenhall Manufacturing supplies a wide and varied range of quality pressed metal assemblies to the automotive, agricultural and construction industries. The company specialises in the production of complex, cosmetic panels in various materials and composites such as skin panels, doors grilles, bonnets and hoods, engine rocker covers and sumps.
With press capacities from 30 to 800 tonnes and a maximum bed area of 3658mm x 2134mm, Willenhall has particular experience in the pressing of steels from 0.8mm to 6mm thick, as well as sound deadening materials, mesh and aluminium.
Willenhall Manufacturing satisfies demanding quality control requirements including the Ford Q1 (TQE) standard and QS9000 accreditation, by applying techniques such as: bench marking, FMEA's, statistical analysis of process capability and in process controls.
