Refurbished Presses Are Good Workhorses

Over the last few years GW Waite Limited, a forward thinking subcontract press shop based in Ulverston, Cumbria, has improved its production capacity and product quality by investing in three refurbished mechanical presses from SMV Presses (UK). This investment has resulted in increased business from the company's automotive and other customers.

As Russell Waite, managing director said: "The three presses have become the workhorses of our production. We have seen the demand for our products increase significantly over the last few years and as there was clearly a need to replace our ageing C frame presses. We turned to SMV who was able to offer us fully re-furbished presses to meet our requirements at competitive prices.

We can now run complicated progressive tooling with full confidence. Many jobs requiring secondary operations have been retooled on progression dies, which has increased our productivity and helped us to remain competitive."

GW Waite presses principally mild steel, stainless and aluminium with a capacity on coil ranging from 0.8 - 4.0mm thick and up to 400mm wide, which is backed up with in house tool room and zinc plating plant. Ancillary operations include assembly, projection welding, tapping and orbital riveting.
