Unique Electronic Library of Aviation Equipment Manuals Extends Service

Following a £150k investment in metrology equipment last year, the scanning of a unique library of over 7,000 technical support manuals for the aviation and defence industries is just one of several projects the South Wales based Allied Aerosystems is undertaking to further improve its services to customers.

Specialists in test equipment calibration, repair and maintenance for more than 20 years, with a particular skill in VXI support, Allied Aerosystems' library archive supports special-to-type and obsolete test and measurement equipment for the aviation and defence industries. The growing collection of technical manuals can now be accessed more readily as PDF files. Clients can also now opt to receive their calibration certificates and repair reports archived onto CD for the previous year, which saves on retaining paperwork for audit purposes and speeds up the search process.

Test equipment supported by Allied Aerosystems ranges from small hand tools and general purpose equipment to flight management and ground support test equipment systems for civil and military aircraft and main battle tanks. In-house calibration capabilities now cover a wide range of instrument types for determining electrical, mechanical, temperature, humidity, and pressure properties, rivalled only by the National Physics Laboratory.

The company is working towards becoming the Centre of Excellence for Calibration in Wales, having already gained the accolade 'Centre of European excellence' for BF Goodrich - JC Air test systems. Allied Aerosystems will be moving to a prestigious new site in Pontypridd, South Wales, within the next few months.
