Autosport Castings Made By Precision Investment
01 Jan 2004
Ceramicast (Precision Investment Castings) Ltd, of Woking, Surrey, is now celebrating its 25th year of producing precision investment castings for a wide variety of industry's in the UK and Europe.
A recent example of this process was used to produce some complex castings for the new Mercedes /McLaren SLR sports car now in full production.
Ceramicast supplies many other top automobile and Formula One companies including parts for the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, rally car semi-automatic gearbox parts, and many of these castings are supplied finish machined, heat treated and painted ready for assembly.
A large proportion of new jobs now arrive at the company as CAD files via e-mail and go direct to its toolmakers to produce the wax injection tooling. Sometimes an initial prototype sample is made first by utilising a wax pattern made directly by a stereo lithography machine to provide a sample casting within one week before the tooling is made.
Ceramicast is fully approved to BS EN ISO 9001-2000 and also TS 157 for the production of aerospace and defence castings.
