New Management Team To Build Laser Company on Strong Foundations

From the 1st January 2004 Micrometric Techniques will trade simply as Micrometric Limited following the retirement of Dr Maurice Gates MBE, managing director. A seamless transfer is ensured as all members of the new management team are currently engaged at a senior level within the precision laser machining business.
As part of the reorganisation and consolidation, two new business cells have been created to provide clear direction and focus for two key elements of the business: Laser Profiling; and Precision Cutting, Laser Marking, Engraving and Welding.
The Lincoln based company employs 49 people and has a turnover of £2.35 million. It is widely recognised as one of Europe's leading laser cutting, welding, marking and wire EDM specialists. It supplies the automotive, power generation, engineering, medical, aerospace, power transmission, scientific, defence, and electronics industries.
Dr Maurice Gates formed the business in 1982 and although retiring from the day-to-day business remains a leading figure in the industry. He received the MBE for his services to industry and to applied technology in particular in 1987 and an Honorary Doctorate in 1997.
He was the recipient of the coveted AILU Award for his outstanding contributions made to the industrial use of lasers in the UK in 1999.
