Unique Benders Extend Contract Tube Fabrication Services in Stainless
01 Jul 2004
Following the opening, 18 months ago, of an additional factory on its site in Kettering, Northants, specialist manufacturer of high quality stainless steel products and fabrications, Cooney Marine International, has invested in two unique tube manipulation machines and a 4kW laser cutter. The new facility has achieved significant gains in product quality and production efficiency, and complements existing fabrication bays, state of the art 3D modelling systems and an extensive machine shop.
The company's contract manufacturing covers a vast spectrum of stainless steel fabrications. The framework for a glass clad, two-storey pavilion for a London restaurant was completed recently, and current projects include screen rails for Sunseeker yachts and safety rails for the food industry.
Cooney is well known in the marine trade for its design and manufacture of fine quality, mirror finish, stainless steel yacht equipment and deck fittings for the world's finest yachts and specialist boats. To serve this market, the company has developed a highly specialised skilled workforce, which is backed up by a thriving apprentice training scheme.
Cooney's two new tube manipulation machines are the first of their kind in the UK, and the largest of their type in Europe. They allow 6m lengths of tube from 8mm to 62mm diameter to be formed into complex shapes, with no necking or tube distortion.
The 4kW laser, cuts up to 20mm thick stainless steel plate, and can also handle box section and tube cutting to high tolerances.
