Nadcap Accreditation Covers Chemical Processing and NDT

In January 2004, Bodycote Metallurgical Coatings Ltd's facility in Liverpool became the first within Europe and Africa to hold Nadcap accreditation for chemical processing. Bodycote Liverpool is the first sub-contract company in the UK able to provide the aerospace market with heat treatment, all coatings, painting and non-destructive testing services with Nadcap approval.

Bodycote's Nadcap accreditation for non destructive testing was achieved in April 2003, and adds to other major manufacturing and aerospace approvals including ISO 9001:2000, AS9100, ISO 14001.

Nadcap (National Aerospace and Defence Contractors Accreditation Program) is an industry-managed approach to conformity assessment of 'special processes', which brings together technical experts from prime contractors, suppliers and government.

The chemical processing Nadcap approval at Liverpool covers Alocrom, anodising - chromic and sulphuric, blasting - vacu-blasting, cadmium - bright, dull and titanium, copper plating, painting, passivation of stainless steel, phosphating, silver plating, tin plating, de-embrittlement and selective plating. It also includes NDT - magnetic and penetrant flaw detection, etch inspection, hardness testing and conductivity testing.
