Breakdown Service has Gear Machining Expertise to Keep Plants Running

Gears in Motion, a new 24 hour industrial breakdown service that was formerly Cotterill Gears, has been so successful in applying the original company's specialised engineering expertise to new markets, that it has doubled in turnover since it's launch 18 months ago.

In 2002 when production maintenance engineer, Perry Ware, bought Cotterill Gears in Birmingham, he had a vision of re-positioning the gear machining company by offering a wider range of services than machining gears to order. Perry knew that Cotterill had the tooling and expertise to service a wider client base by repairing or replacing worn machine parts for which spares are obsolete or difficult to obtain.

Gears in Motion, which also trades as Birmingham Industrial Breakdown, can cut all types of conventional gears, and is one of the few companies remaining in the Midlands capable of fly-cutting worm wheels.

The company's extensive and unique collection of single point cutting tools were made by Cotterill over the years.

Spares and parts for gear reduction units are also held.

Worn parts can be reclaimed with metal spraying and machining back to its original size. Gearbox and variable speed repairs are catered for. Types of Industrial gearbox repairs include:

inline, 90 degree, worm wheel, bevel, helical and spur. Types of variable speed units serviced include: chain, ball, disc, hydraulic and roller.

Clients of Gears In Motion range from blue chip food and automotive production plants, to owners of classic cars and vintage gear boxes.
