'Best Subcontractor' Awards Supply Partner

Fife Fabrications (FiFAB) of Glenrothes, itself, a winner of major international awards, has awarded Wilson Tool International of Swindon as its 'Supply Partner of the Year'. A few months later, at the recent Metalworking and Production Awards 2004, FiFAB received Highly Commended awards for: Best Subcontractor Forming & Fabrication, Best Subcontractor Assembly & Finishing, and Best Partnership Development.
One of the UK's leading contract companies in the sheet metal business supplying components and finished assemblies, FiFAB's managing director, Archie Smith presented the accolade to Wilson Tool with the comment: "The 'World Class' supply partnership has provided us with outstanding operational benefits which have enabled us to maintain a high level of service to existing customers and draw in significant levels of new business."
Central to Wilson Tool's success at FiFAB is the 24-hour tool delivery that enables minimum tool stocks to be held at Glenrothes. In addition, the close technical co-operation between the two companies is reflected in the high productivity and machine utilisation obtained from the latest tooling developments and problem solving.
FiFAB has a 106,000 sq ft facility at Glenrothes, employs 91 people to generate sales in excess of £6 million a year servicing countries including Germany, Malaysia, China and the USA. Among sheetmetal machine installations is a Trumpf TC5000R cell with fully automated handling and tool load/unload. Two Trumpf TC500R cells and two Amada Pega Queen 345 punch presses are also installed.
