Expansions Attract New and Diverse Customers
01 May 2004
Last month, fabrication and machining engineers A.Taylor and Son (Leeds) Ltd returned from a successful Subcon exhibition with enquiries from a number of high profile clients in various new technology sectors. Celebrating 140 years of service to the manufacturing industry this year, A.Taylor has self financed three major expansions in the last 10 years and continues to provide added value, high quality, medium to heavy fabrications, with supplementary machining, to a diverse and growing customer base.
In June 2003, the company opened a new modern 28,000sq. ft facility to specialise in high quality stainless steel fabrication and general machining services. It comprises two large machining bays and a segregated clean stainless bay. The scope of the range of subcontract machining services has been broadened with the recent installation of three new CNC machines: a Hurco CNC machining centre, Mori Seki CNC lathe, and large 5 axis SHW CNC milling machine.
The Weaver Street factory is devoted to the manufacture of carbon steel fabrications, with capacity up to 50 tonnes single lift, CNC profiling, full scope of NDT and load testing.
David Minskip, sales director, commented: "Our success over some recent difficult years in the manufacturing sector could not have been achieved without the support of an exceptional workforce". That workforce, which is drawn from all over Yorkshire, has risen from 40 to 80 in the last two years. With recruitment still underway and further plant development earmarked, the success story at A.Taylor is good news for the engineering industry.
