Customised Carbide Indexable Insert Milling Cutters Make Their Mark

Vargus Tooling UK has recently supplied specially developed indexable insert milling cutters to a manufacturer of components for steam turbine engines. The special grade of carbide that withstands high temperatures generated during the milling of high quality heat resistant steel, was developed by Innotool of Germany, whose products and production engineering support services are represented in the UK by Vargus Tooling UK.

Vargus Tooling UK (formerly known as Damstahl Tooling) is a rapidly growing service orientated specialist supplier of tools and quality solutions for metal cutting, which includes tools for turning, milling, drilling, threading and grooving as well as high precision spindle nose tooling and tools for hand deburring.

In addition to Vargus group products, Vargus Tooling UK markets a portfolio of innovative tooling systems from respected manufacturers in Europe and the Far East.

The Innotool range of soft cutting, indexable insert milling cutters for die and mould machining comprises a large selection of cutters for roughing, pre-finishing, copy milling and finishing operations. The range is used for volume production of components in such industries as power generation, aerospace, automotive and marine engineering throughout the UK and mainland Europe. A wide choice of milling arbors in steel, heavy metal and solid carbide for long cutter overhangs, and an extensive profile of inserts in advanced carbide grades and innovative geometries is also available.

Innotool also offers in-house production engineering support, when required, for automatic 3D machining operations using the Sescoi programming system. This facility has been used many times to provide solutions for customers such as BMW, Volkswagen and Opel.
