Acquisition is a 'Good Fit' for Precision Fabricator
01 Nov 2004
The acquisition by Bristol's specialist electron beam welding and precision machining company, Ravenscourt Engineering, of McGrane Precision, a well respected machining subcontractor from the Gloucester area, is a 'good fit'. The company combines electron beam welding and machining to manufacture parts in a more cost effective manner. Billets for machining can be 'fabricated' using electron beam welding thus reducing material costs and machining times.
The acquisition enables Ravenscourt to meet increasing demand for its services by not only increasing capacity, but also by extending the range of services on offer. By welcoming McGranes's managing director, Terry McGrane to the management team, Ravenscourt has also increased its expertise and skills base.
Prior to the acquisition, an investment of over £0.3m has already enhanced Ravenscourt's facilities, resulting in increased business. The welding section houses a selection of electron beam welding machines, and a wide range of both CNC and conventional machines are available in the machine shop.
Further, this month Ravenscourt installed a Renishaw Cyclone scanner.
The high speed digitising system is suitable for use with contact and noncontact scanning probes. Ravenscourt is now in a position to offer their inspection services to third parties.
Ravenscourt's wide client base covers aerospace, military, medical, autosport and oil industries.
