Micro Laser Welding Service Launched

ABR Specialist Welding has recently launched a specialist laser welding production service for the micro welding of small and delicate assemblies. Within the past 12 months, ABR has installed two new laser systems, and now has a suite of four pulsed laser systems.
The West Bromwich based company has a background of twenty years welding tool steels and five years laser welding, and caters for one off components (prototypes/pre production trials) and batch work. ABR regularly process batches of medical instruments, fine wire mesh filters and a variety of probes using laser welding.
Most of these components could not be welded using conventional methods such as TIG.
The characteristics of the pulsed laser are well suited to the welding or fusing of small components. The pulsed aspect of the laser ensures minimal heat input to the work piece, whilst the laser beam itself can be focussed on a spot as small as 0.3mm diameter. Such precise weld placement enables the production of consistently small and neat welds.
Further investment is planned for the near future, ensuring ABR customers reap the benefits of the very latest laser technology.
