Rack and Ground Gear Volumes are Growing

Mini Gears is expanding its production of small to medium volumes of ground gears, which are used in very high precision applications where noise and product life are critical. The company recently purchased a CNC grinder to accurately control journal diameters.

Earlier this year the company took delivery of a Cincinnati FTV800 machining centre to expand its rack manufacturing capacity.

Mini Gears is a specialist subcontract gear manufacturing company that continually adapts to changes in market requirements to meet the demands of its customers and has been voted the UK's most innovative gear company three times.

Mini Gears has adapted its high volume machines into more medium volume producers by massively reducing set-up times and more flexible tooling to allow lots of various workpieces instead of only 'dedicated' large volume batches. The company has invested heavily in specialist gear cutting areas and with its innovative ways of cutting gear racks, now supplies over 70% of the worldwide market for stairlift manufacturers, currently supplying over one million feet of gear racking per annum.

Mini Gears now has two facilities for gear supply: One in China for high volume price sensitive components, including castings, forgings and machined parts; and One in the UK, at its world class 33,000 sq. ft factory in Stockport, which caters for medium volume requirements of gears and racks.
