New Sliding Head Lathe Wins Back Old Contracts and Attracts New Ones
01 Sep 2004
Dawson Precision Components is a family-owned and run business that has invested more than £1m in the factory, offices and new equipment over the last five years. However, it was the latest addition (a 13-axis Citizen M32-III installed in September 2003), that enabled the company to win old business it lost prior to its investment campaign.
Dawson now has 15 CNC lathes, of which the most recent additions are six Citizens. The M32-III and its high capability to achieve 'one hit' machining cycles has put the company back on the expansionist trail, producing parts more economically and attracting new customers.
Following the M32-III installation, Dawson was able to win back a contract it lost four years ago purely on price. Previously the job involved three operations, turning, milling followed by another visit to the lathe.
The M32-III won back the contract by producing the parts in a single operation some 35% faster than before.
"Our competitor just cannot match our use of the latest technology" says sales manager Paul Dawson.
