Prestigious Award Won Second Year Running

Knaresborough based Claro Precision Engineering has struck gold again. The company has won one of the most prestigious awards in the engineering industry, for the second year running. It picked up the coveted GTMA World Class Golden Globe award at the GTMA World Class awards ceremony recently.

The awards, always strongly contested, celebrate the achievements of companies who constantly strive to search for ways to improve performance and service, something that drives the very best organisations;

and the premier award, the World Class Golden Globe, is awarded to the company which does that better than everyone else.

Collecting the award, Claro managing director Howard Chadwick said: "We are delighted to receive the Golden Globe again, and to be recognized at this level for the quality of the work we do. To compete in the global market it is vital to invest consistently at a high level. At Claro we recognize the importance of offering customers a complete service with maximum valued added."

The company uses a wide range of CNC machining systems and four high speed CNC machining centres backed up with conventional machining, fitting and assembly to offer one of the most comprehensive subcontract services available for concept to component manufacture.

CNC Machinist Stuart Whitehouse attended the ceremony to pick up his craftsmanship certificate, and was also awarded with a trophy and a cheque for his training.

From small beginnings over 25 years ago Claro has grown rapidly - today it has a workforce of 45 and is continuing to expand. A number of key decisions over the past two years have been made which has helped it to achieve, and then maintain, its place at the very highest level. These have included a complete redesign of the factory floor, improvements to its environmental and waste controls, and investing heavily in new equipment.
