£300k Tufftriding Plant Extends Services Offered

Kepston Ltd has invested over £300k, on a new Tufftriding plant in Whitburn, Scotland. The plant extends the wide range of subcontract heat treatment services carried out at the site including several variations of annealing, hardening, and nitriding.

The Tufftriding TF1 treatment is an industrially mature process used across the world for salt bath nitrocarburizing steel, sintered iron and cast iron. Work pieces treated by this process have a greatly improved resistance to wear, to corrosion and to fatigue and the sliding properties are much enhanced too. By using this process, it is often possible to replace expensive materials by less costly ones, or it can be used as a substitute for complicated coating processes.

Within the Kepston Group, sites in the Czech Republic and Scotland concentrate on metal heat treatment services, whilst two Midland sites offer heat treatment and precision grinding and jig grinding services. All four sites are approved to ISO 9001:2000; the site in Scotland is also approved to ISO 14001.
