Turned Parts

Strategic Alliances Offer Cost Reduction Options

Currie & Warner Limited (C&W), one of the original members of the BTMA, and a forerunner within the UK's turned-parts supplier industry, has recently formed strategic alliances with partner companies in India and China. This move enables the company to retain its particular "niche" manufacturing capability, and also provides greater flexibility and options for reducing manufacturing costs.

C&W produces parts exclusively in brass, or copper-based materials, using high-volume, 6-spindle multiautomatic bar-turning machines, within medium to large component size-ranges.

C&W's central Birmingham plant continues to manufacture the 'core' production applications - the majority of those involving technically-innovative machining solutions - whilst those components requiring less technical content, but greater cost competitiveness, are being undertaken by the company's partner companies, having a lower cost base.

Over the past 20 years C&W has successfully developed a vast amount of international supply experience.

This has resulted in more than 50% of the company's annual turnover being exported to overseas customers.
