Heat Treatment

New Contract Cleaning Shop Opens for Business

Clayton Thermal Processes Ltd has opened a dedicated Contract Cleaning Shop. The facility enhances the company's service to the polymer and paint industries for the removal of paint and plastic from metallic parts, and to the foundry industry for the decoring of castings.

Online Buyer's Guide Aids Specification of Critical Processes

Heat treatment is a vital aspect of the manufacturing cycle for the engineering sector, yet not well understood by non-specialists looking to specify the various processes. Now a unique website has been set up by the Contract Heat Treatment Association (CHTA) that is intended as an aid for engineers, designers and buyers, to optimise the benefits of over 40 different processes; as well as a guide to sourcing quality services.

Stress-Relieving Services are Extended and Flexible

The Lincoln division of Hoval Ltd has recently had its new Top-hat furnace commissioned, which enables the company to heat treat at higher temperatures, up to 1100ºC. The new furnace adds normalising and solution annealing to existing stress relieving services for component sizes up to 2700 x 2100 x 4000mm. Special cycles can be tailored to compensate for thickness and specified variations.

Plasma Nitriding and Hard Coatings Complete Heat Treatment Package

The surface coating division of Tamworth Heat Treatment (THT) has recently invested in plasma nitriding and hard coating processes such as TiCN and TiN.
