01 Jan 2005
Investment casting specialist, Polycast Ltd has recently invested £100,000 in new shelling equipment and robotic drying systems that will improve quality and throughput at its long established foundry based at Warsash, near Southampton. The Foundry merges modern casting technology with rapid-prototype expertise, machining, heattreatments, electro-polishing, anodising, hand-polishing and assembly. The company also successfully offers long-term 'cost out' added value services to its blue chip clients using associate foundries in China.
Polycast specialises in the manufacture of ferrous and nonferrous alloy products, producing specialist castings for the medical, marine, automotive, aerospace, gas turbine, powergen, dentistry, defence and general component industries.
The company offers advice and assistance with items, including castability, alloy selection and finish.
Competitive prices on selected, high volume, cost sensitive items are achieved using associate foundries in China, with Polycast remaining the prime sub-contractor, being entirely responsible for all the development, tooling, QA, logistic, commercial, safety and supply issues. Existing tooling can remain at Polycast, to be used as a backup. The service can also include Kan-Ban systems to ensure requirements are met for lead time, safety stocking and small batches.
Polycast is an accredited supplier to numerous blue chip organisations, including Rolls-Royce Motors, BMW, Eschmann, Sunseeker Motor Yachts, Corin Medical, Dentsply, Selden Marine, Harris-Pye Marine and JCB.
Polycast Ltd is currently working towards the TS16949 automotive supplier standard.
