Heavy Press Braking Capacity Increased With Specialist Skills Training
01 Jan 2005
Angle Ring has recently taken on and qualified more operatives for its range of heavy press-braking machinery. Paul Middleton commented: "The machines are a tremendous asset to our section and plate bending capacity, but skilled operators for these sizes of machine are difficult to come by, we are proud to have some of the best operators working for us, and continue to develop internal staff to allow us to cover the increased demand we have seen recently."
Specialists in bending steel and aluminium for over 50 years Angle Ring's Tipton production facility has the largest bending range for section, tube, bar and plate in the UK.
The three large press brakes operated at Angle Ring offer the capability to form plates up to 25mm thick in the full 10,000mm lengths. The Bronx made machines were purchased from the former Bentham International company in 2000, and have been working productively in their new location since then. The machines range from a six metre bed at 800 tonnes through to a 10 metre bed with an impressive 1200 tonne capacity.
The machinery will be used to produce specialist pipes in a range of materials, and also to service a wide range of industries from aluminium plate to make carbon-fibre lay-on tools used in the aerospace industry, to bespoke structural sections used in construction.
