Large, Deep Hole Boring Capacity Widened to 200mm Drill Diameter

Last month Engineering Capacity reported that TBT UK Ltd, Birmingham, had taken delivery of (probably) the largest subcontract deep hole drilling machine (DHD) available for subcontract work in Europe. This month an additional large deep hole boring machine was delivered, which extends TBT UK's capabilities to: 0.9mm minimum drill diameter; 200mm maximum drill diameter; 5m maximum drill depth; and 25t maximum work piece weight.

These investments are part of a planned expansion into the machining of very large and complex work pieces, particularly for the offshore and petrochemical industries, and follows the company's relocation to new, and larger, premises last November.

The company specialises in the CNC machining of both off-centre (block type), as well as concentric (bar type) work - with high levels of accuracy in terms of hole position, diametrical tolerance, surface finish, and straightness.

The new machines are being supplied by TBT UK's German parent company, the world's leading manufacturer of DHD machines and tools.
