Systems Implementation Leads to Steady Growth and Capacity Upgrade
01 Jan 2005
Last year, Alternative Precision Sheet Metal Ltd (APSM), Swansea, began to reap the benefits of a three year project to put effective computerised management systems in place. The resulting efficiencies and good planning have lead to steady growth, prompting the need for increased production capacity.
The first new machine upgrade is a new eight-axis Bystronic folding machine, to be followed by a new turret punch later in 2005.
APSM has implemented an advanced MRP system, which includes shop floor data capture, barcoded stock control, and automatic 'estimate to invoice' document generation. This ensures full traceability, and on time delivery, of an array of precision machined components and assembled products that are produced for a wide range of customers, including the MoD, automotive and aerospace companies.
High levels of precision in fine limit sheet metal work and welded fabrications are achieved at APSM using cutting edge CAD/CAM technology.
The company invests in the latest manufacturing technology to add value for customers and to satisfy increasing demands from modern designs.
Areas of expertise include: laser cutting, CNC punching, MIG and TIG welding. Associated operations, including turning, milling, and powder coating, help to provide flexible 'total' engineering solutions.
