Five Year Agreement Won for Bronze Bearings & Bushes
01 Jul 2005
Specialist producer of bronze bearings and bushes, Leeds Bronze Engineering has won a five year agreement to supply Rolls Royce Bergen Engines with bronze bearings and bushes. The company is now the UK's largest manufacturer of bronze bearings and bushes, and has an extensive stockholding facility.
550 tonnes of copper based alloys are stocked at the company's Leeds site. These are predominately bronze alloys to European specifications, including leaded bronze, phosphor bronze and aluminium bronze.
Aluminium bronzes are extensively used in marine environments, because of their excellent seawater corrosion resistance and strength. The common alloys stocked are CA104, BS B23 (DTD197A), and NES833 (grades 1&2).
These are normally available ex-stock in sizes from 1/2" up to 11" diameter, and can all be supplied fully certified. A range of both metric and imperial sized hexagon bar is also available.
Leeds Bronze also manufactures many other components in copper based alloys, including valve parts and sonar equipment <$>www.leedsbronze.co.uk
